Most of the time at opening ceremonies, everyone is there. There's an urban legend of one time one of the guests not showing up because he was passed out drunk in his hotel room. Who it was varies quite a bit. At Anime Matsuri this year, the main con officials didn't show up and told guest Mathew Mercer at the last possible moment he must host the opening ceremonies. That will be in a future issue of this.
